so I’m taking an epidemiology class this semester.
Our professor said that by the end of the class we’ll all come to be highly worried any time someone coughs. I scoffed at it. I mean, there’s no way I can be any more of a hypochondriac than I am already. Then we watched a video about ebola today.
if anyone needs me, I’ll be building a hermetically sealed bunker to live in for the rest of my infectious disease free life.

Preface: I agree that this is highly unprofessional and that the cop should hold himself to a higher standard. He could have written her up for resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. Both would have been more effective punishment than kicking her.
HOWEVER…
To all those people saying “I fucking hate cops”… if some crazy drunk woman shin kicked you, by reflex alone, I’m betting you would have kicked her right back. It’s easy being righteous from afar. This cop is most certainly an ass, but there are so many good cops that go unnoticed. A good cop is not a compelling story for the news. They do a thankless job for little pay. They come when we call. They head into the danger. They protect and serve. You will never hear me make some blanket remark that all cops are bad and it makes me sad when others do.
A drunk woman kicking someone in the shin while barefoot isn’t going to do much damage at all. A sober, angry police man in steel toed boots kicking someone in the head so hard they slam into the sidewalk is going to do a lot of damage. That’s not reflex, that’s done with intent to hurt.
And good cops are still part of an institution that lets other cops get away with this behavior. It’s cyclical and festering and means that things like this will go unpunished. I… can’t. I’m really pissed off. How dare you. How dare you defend this man’s actions even a bit and then suggest that we should be ok with it because there are good cops too.
Fucking hell. Unfollowed like a motherfucker.

Star Trek has started filming again. this is good because we’ll get a new movie, but it is awesome because Chris Pine’s hair has been restored to its rightful goodness that is not that awful combed back shit.
